Garage Build - Day 6

The foundation and floor area was filled and compacted today. We were able to drive the car in to set final placement of the lift. For this, we will pour additional concrete under the lift posts to support the weight.

Next, the engineers will be here today to do a 'soil compaction' test, then the floor will be poured by the end of the week. We will not be here to see that happen, as we will be in the great white north for the holidays.

Garage Build - Day 2

The footings were poured this morning (just beat the rain we're supposed to get).

Since the Tedster likes all things with motors and noise, here are a couple of videos of the backhoe digging the trenches and the ceeeement truck in action.

Garage Build - Day 1

Since moving to Florida one of the things we have missed is having sufficient storage and a LARGE garage. With several Harley's, a Mustang, numerous tools, equipment and collectibles, our small 2 car attached garage just does not fit the bill.

After several months of planning we have finally put together a dream garage design. It will be a 3 car garage - 2 front garage doors and one side garage door and will be 30' by 30' and 12' high. It will have a 2 post lift along with all of the electrical requirements for ample lighting, a MiG welder, plasma cutter and a compressor (oh.. and a flat screen TV, too!). So, stop by regularly and check in on how it progresses.

Construction started December 16th and we have already run into a need for a slight change in plans. The back yard is not quite level so instead of going with a monolithic slab, we'll need stem wall footings and will have to plan on excavating the land around the side garage entrance area, as the floor will be a little higher than we originally thought.

From the top down 1) Rear corner - lines are staked 2) At pool entrance looking at what will be the front of the garage 3) The digging starts 4) Footings are dug and rebar is in

Tomorrow - concrete will be poured
